...into a little Philosophy.

...of Luscious Lips.

If the schizophrenic weather has been wreaking havoc on keeping your lips smooth and soft, you are not alone. It's not a pretty picture, but has it seemed nearly impossible to keep your chapped lips from peeling and flaking? I have found that the trick is to apply moisturizing ointments versus pretty lip-glosses or aromatic chap-sticks. Look for these products that have specific ingredients that alleviate discomfort and provide soothing relief:

1. Deep Renewal Chapstick by Blistex.
My first encounter with this product was when my mom passed it along to me--I immediately dismissed it for a marketing ploy targeting the anti-aging niche. However, after using it...I realized this product is incredible! With SPF 15 and Coenzyme-Q10 (an ingredient that slows down the aging-process while delivering revitalizing antioxidants), this chapstick instantaneously heals flakiness and dryness, leaving lips revitalized and smooth.

2. Rose Salve by C.O Bigelow.
The hybrid of aromatic chapstick, soothing ointment, and lipgloss. This all purpose salve has .9% rose extract which helps ease irritation and condition the lips with a subtle gloss-like complexion--not to mention it smells quite lovely.

3. Aquaphor Healing Ointment by Eucerin.
Simply put: a miracle product. With 41% Petrolatum, this ointment helps to protect and relieve chapped or dry lips. Generously apply before bed or a few times throughout the day to alleviate pain and reduce visible flakiness. Can also be applied on other dry/irritated parts of the body.

into...Sprinter.

Walking back from class earlier this afternoon, I loosened my scarf, whipped on my black Ray-Ban Wayfarers, and unzipped my already unseasonably light coat. How is it that we are in the dead of winter, yet the weather app on my iPhone reads 53 degrees and partly cloudy? This time last year, mountains of dirty snow served as obstacles on my way to class, patches of slick ice turned the quad into a death trap, and going out at night was based upon how many degrees the temperature fell below zero. Yet currently, my snow-boots have yet to hit snow-covered pavement, the quad is outlined with students sitting outside on benches, and the quintessential leather jacket will suffice for going out at night. We have seemingly found ourselves in this in-between season of what should be winter, but isn't quite yet spring. Ladies, I introduce you all to Sprinter.  If you are confused as to how to deal with these changes in weather...join the club. How can we keep our beauty regimes and fashion trends align with this unexpected arrival of Sprinter?

I offer you a few tips that will hopefully help you combat the confusion:

#1. Layer with light accessories.
--Instead of throwing on your heavy winter coat, try layering trendy pieces so you can add or take off as the temperature changes.

#2. Moisturizing while building up a subtle glow.
--During the week, switch on and off between a moisturizer and a self-tanning lotion that'll help keep your skin soft while building a sun-kissed look for the spring.

#3. Switching from winter hues to spring glows.
--We are emerging from the winter season, eager to obtain that perfectly tanned face; however, we cannot resort to slabbing on pounds of bronzer--this must be a gradual shift from the lighter winter hues to the soft glows of early spring. Go for colors and shades that highlight and illuminate the skin without making it look fake and "cakey".

#4. Being bold with bright colored pants.
--Go for it. Buy that pair of brick red jeans or electric blue pants you've been obsessing with all winter long...it's only a matter of time before spring comes full throttle with bright colors, so be on the cutting edge of fashion trends and show them off now!
